Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Athletic Dinner was quite enjoyable on Friday night.    Thanks to all of you who were able to come and support your sons and daughters. As I said on Friday evening, I was proud of our young athletes not only for winning games, but also for representing our school so well. Thanks again to all of our coaches who dedicated lots of time and energy. Also, I appreciate Lisa Drone for all she did to keep our concessions going.

Tuesday, May 6, Mrs. Pagano and I will join four of our eighth graders, Kirsten Cairel, Katherine Johnson, Logan Boulds and Blake Rogers, at a Rotary Club luncheon. These students will receive recognition for their academic success during this past year. Congratulations to all of them.

Tuesday afternoon at 2:15, the high school choir will give a concert for our students. Then on Tuesday evening, you are all invited to attend our band concert under the direction of Mike Thomas. These students are getting better and better all the time. You will enjoy their patriotic concert.

As you all know this coming Sunday is Mother’s Day. When I was growing up, both of my parents had a great deal of influence on me.  I lived in a rather traditional home. We never had much money and sometimes food was scarce. My father worked, usually the 3 to 11 p.m. shift most his entire working career. So, my mother basically gave her life to taking care of my brothers and me. She cooked. She washed our clothes. She cleaned our house. She fixed our lunches.   When I came home from school upset, she gave me a hug and patiently listened to me and sometimes cried with me. She didn’t have an easy life. I loved her very much and still miss her a great deal today. Yet, I know she is in heaven cheering me on.

Whether your mother is living or deceased, I suspect that most of you will celebrate Mother’s Day in a special way.    Let us give thanks for our mothers for all the ways that they shaped our lives.

Have a wonderful week. Enjoy our lovely weather.
“Gentle woman, quiet light, morning star, so strong and bright.  Gentle Mother, peaceful dove, teach us wisdom; teach us love.” Carey Landry (1978)

Sincerely,

Sister Brenda
